Bridget Kibbey Plays J.S. Bach

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor BWV 565

“...a Yo-Yo Ma of the harp...”
“...Within a few seconds Kibbey has given the harp an outsized personality and ethereal purity, like a piano set free of its hammers and heavy case.”

"Kibbey gave a fresh face to the familiar music, and the result was extraordinary."

“While the classical concert harp probably isn’t the first instrument that you would think of as being badass, Kibbey makes it that way.”

“...makes it seem as though her instrument had been waiting all its life to explode with the gorgeous colors and energetic figures she was getting from it.”
World-renowned harpist Bridget Kibbey has reimagined J.S. Bach’s most iconic keyboard works on the harp alongside the Sebastians, “NYC's leading early-music ensemble.”

From preludes and fugues of the Well-Tempered Clavier, to duo sonatas, to harpsichord concerti, to their own adaptation of the Goldberg Variations – the program escalates from the intimacy of solo harp, to duo, to counterpoint between all five forces in opulent concerti. The performance event offers varied instrumentation for continued energy and nuance – and the unique resonance of the harp lends a beautiful glow and virtuosity to these works – never before heard in a concert hall.
