Cleveland ChamberFest: Baroque Masterpieces

ABOUT THIS CONCERT

This program has a magical quality, with mood shifts and unexpected contrasts filling the soulful gothic elegance of Harkness Chapel. First, a pair of Baroque works for violin and harp. Next, French horn and piano play a work Clara Schumann called “brilliant, fresh and passionate.” The contrasts continue with a set of droll, sardonic miniatures by one of America’s most beloved living composers. Finally, the piano trio by Brahms pairs a symphonic scale and emotional range with the intimate lyricism of chamber music. Kibbey and Violinist Alexi Kenney team up for Biber’s Mystery Sonata No. 1 and CPE Bach’s Sonata in G Minor.
